About the Author

Pier Giorgio Pacifici was born and raised in Rome, Italy. He began writing as a child, and continued developing his stories and universes throughout his life. During his university years, he first created the concept of the Twin Worlds for a roleplaying campaign with his friends,.

In 2004, he graduated in biology and moved to Heidelberg, Germany, where he continued working on short stories set in the Twin Worlds, culminating in writing North Star, an EPPIE Award winner in 2008 as Best Fantasy Story. In 2011, after obtaining his Ph.D. in neuroscience, he moved to the United States, where he also met (and married) his better half.

Since 2017, Pier Giorgio and his wife have moved back to Rome, where they welcomed a son in 2019. Currently, Pier Giorgio works in the biopharma industry while continuing to work on the many tales of the Twin Worlds.

In his own words...

"I was born in Rome, Italy, although I spent much of my life living in Germany and the United States. I feel that these experiences have truly shaped me, and as a result, they have shaped the stories I write as well. 

​

I began writing when I was 12, inspired by the works of J.R.R. Tolkien, in particular "The Lord of the Rings" (and later, "The Silmarillion"). My first fictional world was the setting for several stories which I remember fondly (but do not plan to ever publish). The Twin Worlds came by several years later, initially as part of a larger setting of a roleplaying campaign with some friends during my university years. That campaign set down the basics of the Twinverse, from which everything else grew. 

Even after we stopped playing, I continued developing the setting through other games with many wonderful players, both in Germany and the U.S.; I also continued writing stories set in it, drawing further inspiration from other authors ranging from Brooks to Erikson, from Donaldson to Moorcock. There are too many inspiring authors to list here, for which I am very grateful.

Now it's time to open up the Twinverse to the world, and I am extremely excited to finally share all that I have made. The Twin Worlds have been a labor of love for over 20 years. I hope you enjoy them, that you fall in love with the Cosmoneiron and its characters, and that they become as familiar to you, in time, as they are to me. Welcome!"
